We started this to fix a common problem. Good local businesses were paying real money for websites that did nothing for them.
Lake County Web Design is a small shop in Gurnee. We build websites for the businesses working around us: the attorney off Route 41, the plumber in Libertyville, the med spa in Vernon Hills, the family restaurant in Waukegan.
We know this county. We know a Lake Forest firm and a Round Lake contractor need different sites. We know what somebody types into a phone at seven in the morning when the basement is wet, and we know a salon is judged on its photos before anyone reads a word.
When you call, you get the person who built your site. There is no account manager passing messages along and no ticket number.

No theme and no stack of plugins to keep patched. Your site is yours, and it stays fast because there is nothing extra in it.
You see it before you pay.
We send a private link. You read every page on your own phone and ask for changes. Billing starts the day you approve it and we launch.
We say what we can and cannot do.
We build the site properly. We do not promise rankings, call volume, or a launch date we cannot hold.

We are new. We will not pretend otherwise.
We do not have years of client logos to put on this page, so we did the next honest thing. We built three complete websites for three invented Lake County businesses and put them on the site for you to look at. They are labeled as spec projects everywhere they appear. They are our work, and they show how we think, but no one has paid us for them. See all three.
The testimonials on our home page are labeled samples. We wrote them. They describe the experience we are building toward, and they are not evidence that anyone has had it yet.
When real clients agree to be named, their work replaces the samples, and we will say plainly what we did.
Why the offer works this way
A $0 website build fee and $297 a month exists for one reason. The biggest thing stopping a small business from getting a decent site is writing a large check for something they have never seen.
So we took that out. We build it, you read it on a private link, and you decide. If you do not like it, you have not spent anything. Billing starts the day you approve the site and it goes live, prorated for the days left in that month.
The rest follows from that. Cancel any month with five business days' notice. Your domain transfers to you, free after three months if we registered it, or for a one-time $50 fee if you cancel sooner. Every term is written out on the pricing page, including the ones we have not settled yet.
